Following graduation from BL and an LDS mission to Bolivia, Peru and Chile, I took my undergrad and law degrees from BYU.  I engage in a commercial transactions and litigation practice as a member of Prince, Yeates & Geldzahler, a fine Salt Lake law firm.  My wife, Karla (also a BYU grad), and I have three great kids: Kelley, a lawyer in Washington, D.C.; Taylor, a UVSC student and singer/dancer/actress (a regular at Hale Theatre in Salt Lake); and Cameron, a percussionist and 4.0 student at Alta.  I've coached a lot of soccer teams and spent many nights at scout camps over the years and just returned from a 35-mile handcart trek over Rocky Ridge on the Oregon Trail.  I've pursued my passion for fly fishing from Alaska to Patagonia and enjoy good books (bless you, Mrs. Boyle and Mrs. Gillins!), an occasional Crownburger, and hiking through the mountains above our Hidden Valley home.

Linda (Mingo) Weiskopf.  Spouse: David (married 24 years).  We have two daughters, Heidi, living in Hood River Oregon, and Staci, living in Boise Idaho.  I moved back to Utah in 1994 after living in the Washington D.C. area for 17 years.  I retired three years ago from the IRS after a 37 year career.  My current passion is raising puppies for the Canine Companions for Independence (cci.org); a wonderful organization who provides companion dogs to children and adults with disabilities.  Fairfax and Filia are in the picture.  I still love to ski, hike, bike and garden and so far my body has (sometimes begrudgingly) complied.  Last winter I worked as a host for Powder Mountain ski resort, a very "tough" job where I am paid to take visitors to the best powder stashes on the mountain.  Life is good!

DeLayne Allred Mifflin
Schooling:   I attended Weber State for two quarters then attended the College of Southern Utah, which is now Southern Utah University, in Cedar City, Utah, for two years.

Work:   I have spent 10 years in full time secretarial work.  Eight of those years was at CSU/SUSC;   8 years as a day-care provider in my home; 3 years in banking; 2 years as a Youth in Custody Tracker for the Iron County School District; 28 years as a temp worker much of which I have done at home, mostly
secretarial, many times overlapping with full time employment.  The past 10 years I have been lucky enough just doing occasional temp work for the ICSD and the Southwest Applied Technology College doing things like typing grant info, data input from surveys, and as a Proctor for GED testing.

Family:  I met my husband, Benjamin Wayne Mifflin, at Weber State through the Upward Bound Program.  He graduated from Weber State in 1968. We married in the Logan Temple on March 21, 1968.  A month later, we moved to Cedar City, where we have lived ever since, and we love it here.   He started at CSU/SUSC and gradually moved over to the Iron County School District - teaching, being a principal, grant writer, grant administrator, and coordinator for educational programs.  We struggled to start our family for nine years, at which time we adopted our son, Benjamin, born in 1977, who had to be the older brother.  Then I had David, Thomas, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Michael; so I had five children within the period of six years.  My boys are all Eagle Scouts and my girls have become beautiful women.   My husband and my children are the greatest blessings in my life.  We have three grandsons and one granddaughter.  They are truly joys for us.   Our children's spouses are great.

Hobbies:   My family is my life.  Being a Mother and Grandmother keeps me pretty busy.  After that -- I like to garden and get my hands in the earth.   I love flowers & music.  I like to preserve what we grow by home canning.   I like to do crossword puzzles, scrap-booking, temple work, service to others, and I am getting reacquainted with crocheting.  I love to go to plays and concerts, watch movies and home improvement shows.

Wishes for the future:  When we retire, we would like to serve a mission for the LDS Church.  We would like to travel, (both as a couple and with our children);  get more involved in genealogy and temple work; take road trips and short drives; visit our family and extended families; spend more time with our friends and get reacquainted with old friends.  I would like to become a greeter for the Utah Shakespearean Festival, which we are blessed to have in our community.  I would like to do more service for others, continue to accept all the good things in life, and life's challenges, and endure to the end.
Would love to hear from you:        DeLayne    "
